The Amazon Rainforest is on fire for the last three weeks. Some Instagram posts from celebrities stated that the largest tropical rainforest in the world is under fire for 16 days straight and the media agencies haven’t released any news about it.
People, including celebrities, from the internet have been using the hashtags #PrayForAmazonia #SaveTheAmazon to create awareness and spread the news about the said forest fire.
As of today, August 22, the media started to publish information related to the Amazon Forest fire. According to Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais (INPE) via Daily Express UK, they “recorded 72,843 fires [since January] in the Amazon this year alone...Satellite images revealed 9,507 new forest fires have burned in the country since Thursday [August 15].”
What’s the worst part in the forest fire? “Most of the recent blazes were located in the Amazon basin, which is home to the world’s largest tropical forest seen as vital to countering global warming.”
The savage fires triggered the Amazonas to declare a state of emergency on Monday, August 19.

Some of us may ask why the Amazon is on fire if it’s humid. The Amazon Rainforest is know to be fire-resistant in our history because of its natural moisture and humidity, but due to drought and human activities, the said rainforest have became vulnerable.
According to an estimate calculated by Daily Express UK, the fire has affected 640 million acre of land. And it’s possible that it can spread wider 😕
If people have pledged or donated $1 billion to rebuild the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral in Paris, can we do the same? Nope. Money cannot rebuild a rainforest. It can only rebuild through international laws and agencies or the government making a halt to the exploitation of the Amazon Rainforest, or making it a natural reserve (READ: Couple Spends 20 Years Reforesting a Land)
What can we do? We can just sit, eat, and sleep and not give a damn about it, or we can plant and take care of trees and help in reforesting, not necessarily the Amazon Rainforest, but at our local towns or the country we live in.
